Wool Embroidery and Applique

For the past year I've been fascinated with wool applique and embroidery. The quilt artists I have followed the most are Sue Spargo and Wendy Williams. I have attached some of my recent wall quilts.

This is the first wool applique and embroidery enhanced quilt I did. It is from a Sue Spargo pattern called Bird Dance. I created this quilt in October 2014.

My next project was a pattern from Wendy Williams, an Australian quilt designer , called Round the Garden. I used Wendy's pattern, but incorporated many of Sue Spargo's embroidery stitches. I created this quilt over 3 months and finished it in October of 2016. This quilt was accepted into AQS Paducah S the how in Spring of 2018

I am currently working on another Wendy Williams pattern called My Place or Yours. I've added a couple of pictures so you can see the progress. I just put the quilt on my long arm and started quilting it this afternoon. I started this quilt in May 2017 and I'm in the process of finishing it in September of 2017.

I named this quilt My Neighborhoods and it received 1st Place in Viewer's Choice at the North shore Quilter's Guild show.

I have been exchanging Christmas ornaments with my sister for the last 35 years. I came upon the 12 Days of Christmas ornaments sold by mmmcrafts.blogspot.com several years ago. This year I decided to create four of them since it would take me 12 years if I only did one a year. I always make one for her and one for myself. Below are 5: Gold Rings, 6: Goose a-Laying, 7: Swan a-Swimming and 8: Maid a-Milking. They are made from felted wool and embroidery embellishments. Next year I will make her the last four so I can move on to something else the following year.
